Happy 3rd Birthday Sugar!
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob Square Pants! My little Sugar has fallen in love with anything SpongeBob...fortunately she's more into SpongeBob things than the slightly inappropriate show itself. :) SpongeBob is lemon cake (couldn't do pineapple--a family member is allergic) with lemon icing, and vanilla fondant square pants, etc. My Sugar absolutely loved the cake and the lemon was perfect for Spring. Happy 3rd Birthday Sugar Pie!

Garden Wedding
I love that brides are choosing fun flavors for their wedding cakes now...nothing boring or traditional about chocolate fudge cake with three thick layers of homemade peanut butter frosting! The tiers were covered in vanilla fondant, and decorated with red royal icing lilies and tiny icing flowers with edible pearl centers. I have to admit, when the bride said she wanted me to use pillars, I wasn't keen on the idea...you just don't see them much anymore. But I found square clear acrylic ones instead of round white plastic, and then filled them with red glass stones. They turned out really pretty!
I got up early this morning to deliver the cake to Leu Gardens, and the weather was just beautiful. A perfect day for a wedding! Mr. Sugar and Spice said our little Sugar wasn't too happy when she woke up and realized not only was Mommy gone, but the cake was too--and she REALLY wanted the cake. :)
I'm very happy with the way the cake turned out, and the bride was too...she was thoughtful enough to text me during the reception to let me know how happy she was! I'm honored she trusted me so much with such an important day in her life!

My Spice is Growing UP!
I can't believe my little Spice, the reason I started decorating cakes in the first place, is already 8 years old! She is absolutely obsessed with balloons, and loves the scene in the movie UP! when the music starts and the rainbow of balloons fly up above Mr. Fredrickson's house. I covered a board in sky blue fondant with white clouds. There were dozens of mini cupcakes for balloons and a house shaped cake as well. I loved all the colors and the look of a floating house and balloons! This is definitely one of my favorites so far! Happy Birthday Spice!

Go Noles!
Okay, I admit I know absolutely nothing about football. My husband typically watches one game a year, the Super Bowl, and I watch the commercials. But fortunately you don't have to know anything about football to replicate a logo in icing! This was a surprise cake from a sweet bride for a groom who's an FSU fan. Chocolate cake with peanut butter icing...I'll pretend to like football if it involves peanut butter and chocolate. :)

Silly Snake and Trendy Turtle
The snake's eyes are jumbo marshmallows, his nose is chocolate chips,
and his tongue is marshmallow fondant!

Apples for the Teachers
My Spice goes to a school for children with autism and other special needs. The "teachers" are actually all behavior analysts who love these kids so much. They really appreciate how long it takes my Spice, and the other students, to reach a goal, and how those goals have to be broken down in to dozens of tiny steps. So a plain old apple to say thank you just doesn't suffice. Today we sent in apple cake pops, made with strawberry flavored cake. I'm so glad I made extras to "taste test." ;)

Little Pumpkins
This year instead of doing cupcakes for my Spice's school Halloween party, I changed things up a bit and decided to do pumpkin cake pops! Plan A was for them to be jack-o-lanterns with black eyes and mouths, but the Wilton Food Writer pens just don't seem to agree with the candy melts...they just carve instead of write. So on to Plan B, plain old fat pumpkins!
With the orange flavored cake and the white chocolate coating, they tasted like delicious orange creamsicles. Needless to say, all the extras were eaten within hours by myself and Mr. Sugar & Spice. =)
